Our early preschool class, beginning at 30 months, provides opportunity for independence, imagination, and more challenging hands-on learning activities to develop critical thinking, foster curiosity, and encourage creativity!
Early preschoolers are fascinated with weather and observing living things in their environment. As their attention and ability to focus increases, they become more skilled with simple tools and solving problems through trial and error.
Language
As children's vocabulary begins to rapidly expand, they will begin following multi-step instructions and engaging in more detailed 2-way conversation with their teacher and peers. They begin recognizing letters, properly handling books, and can use pictures, letters, and symbols to communicate a story.
Arts
Children are frequently moving, dancing, and singing along with music. They are given a variety of artistic media and begin to compare and contrast their creations with their peers. They use their active imaginations to engage in more complex dramatic play.
Social, Emotional,
& Spiritual Wellbeing
Early preschoolers love describing their home, family, and locations they know. Our teachers guide children to actively communicate their wants and needs, regulate their emotions, develop empathy for others, and use words to resolve conflict.
Math
Early preschoolers are exploring patterns, numbers, shapes, and sequences, as they sort, manipulate, and compare objects and amounts.
Physical Development
Early preschoolers try a wide variety of healthy foods at meal and snack times. They are given opportunities to develop gross motor skills on our outdoor playground, indoor PlayPlace, and carefully monitored rock wall at select locations. With support from parents, teachers continue to work with early preschoolers to recognize their toileting needs.
