New Facility for State-of-the-Art Early Childhood Education Program

Lafayette, IN- February 27, 2017- First Assembly Community Ministries is announcing the new location of it’s STEAM Academy Preschool, the only program of it’s kind in the greater Lafayette area. Following a successful first pilot year, August 14, 2017 STEAM Academy will move to 2850 Old US Highway 231 South Lafayette IN 47909,  a 9,000 sq ft. building that is able to accommodate 132 children. First Assembly’s Lead Pastor Robby Bradford says “First Assembly’s legacy of lifting children is going to new heights with the STEAM Academy Preschool.” Construction on the facility has already begun and STEAM Academy is now enrolling for fall.

STEAM Academy provides hands-on, developmentally appropriate opportunities to build on the natural curiosity of all children. STEAM’s innovative program embeds Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics in all their programing for children aged 6 months through prekindergarten. “Research shows that the earlier we guide and support children’s wonder about the world–and thereby identify opportunities for children to acquire foundational STEM skills–the more successful they are in all areas of learning later on.” National Association for the Education of Young Children.

STEAM Academy offers full and half day learning programs. Each classroom is enabled with secure webcams so parents can log in during STEAM Lab time to observe their child’s classroom. A current parent of a STEAM Academy student has said, “We are so glad we decided to enroll in the 3’s class at STEAM Academy. My daughter looks forward to school each day, and has already learned so much! The curriculum and activities look so fun, I’m tempted to stay too.”

STEAM Academy is currently looking for partners in the community to help support this initiative. Current community partners are Indiana Space Grant NASA, Indiana Youth Institute, and Center for Congregations/Lilly Endowment.
